Sure enough, Mani Leik, the friendly Rock band from next door, are no newcomers to the Vienna rock scene, debuting in 2017 with their first studio album Picking up the Pieces. But as time always changes, the band also changed, developing a new, rockier style in their songs and a new line up in 2020.
The combo is the project of singer/songwriter and original founder Manfred Leikermoser. Mani continues to rely on lead guitarist Philipp Büchler and drummer Christoph "Cheese" Gusel, who have been part of Mani Leik for years. Changes made in 2020 meant leaving aside keyboard performances and welcoming bass player Roddy McCorley, bringing new energy to the low strings. Since every member is also contributing their singing voice, a whole new range of possibilities emerges for vocal arrangements.
Mani Leik tap deeply into the bag of tricks of many different areas. The set is put together lovingly, from melodic ballads to heavy riffs, including rock ‘n‘ roll and blues. Both in the studio and on stage, the band likes to celebrate exactly what has made rock music so exciting over the past 70 years, each song a small world in itself, at the same time part of a larger whole, which reveals itself to the inclined fan upon closer inspection.
